Sphaudio

Sphaudio was an unusual project I created as an accessible version of a point and click adventure games, an audio engine and development framework designed to enable non-technical creatives to innovate exciting new audio based projects for mobile. At it’s heart, an audio based decision engine, facilitating the simpliest of audio books, to complex gamified interactive audio experiences and educational systems. In a nutshell, Sphaudio was a development platform for creating interactive mobile audio experiences, for gaming, for listening and for learning. The project had the capacity to open a whole new world of gaming to the blind and visually impaired.

Sphaudio Play was the front end application that the user plays with, it takes a Sphaudio Designer project and plays your audio experience. Think of it as the final application that a user can download from iTunes or Play Store for example. It utilised bundles of assets and a project file and allowed the user to play and interact.

Sphaudio Designer was the tool used to create projects, a UI tool for creating interactive content. The content could then be compiled and bundled for use in Sphaudio Play. Sphaudio Designer had a number of modules that could be enabled or disabled for your particular project.

Sphaudio Projects

I looked for funding for Sphaudio development and during this time I worked on a prototype that graduate Paul Kerr used as part of his degree, an exciting project for Sphaudio, D.I Murray and Victoria’s Secret was an interactive audio journey written by S.G Mark and narrated by Andrew Byatt.
